About Me

About Me And Why I’m Here

I’m a writer and musician learning to love the Crone as I grow older. My journey led me to uncover and reclaim so much of my lost self, and I am now a Certified Healthcare Musician, Certified Breath Coach, Certified Meditation Teacher, and Certified Trauma-Informed Coach. This space began as a way to share my reflections on life and, while it will always be a place for writing, it’s recently become a place to share what I’ve learned in my practice as a harp therapist. Here, you’ll find two courses: one course for harpers and harpists and one short and simple course for anyone interested in my healing journey.

On reclaiming the Crone

It turns out that as the years pass, the number that shouts good morning on my birthday gets bigger. I don’t think I quite grasped that truth when I was a twenty-something. The number doesn’t stay the same even when you are quite satisfied with its shape and size. 29 will always become 30 and 59 will always become 60.

However, getting old is optional. Your body may occasionally disagree (there’s no absolute need to stay out step-dancing and playing harp at Irish sessions till 3 a.m. to prove a point (yes, that would be me)), and that’s just fine, so long as you don’t find yourself thinking like your aching joints and confused digestive system.

Think like a Crone.*

*Not, it’s important to recognize, like a miserable old woman who powerlessly hates what’s happening to her. No.

Think like a Crone and start happening to everyone else. (Thank you, Granny Weatherwax.)

I won’t tell you my number today. It’s becoming less and less relevant and no one ever believes me anyway. Looking around, I can see that I’m older than you, you, and all of you over in that corner looking like you don’t really want to be here quite yet.

I’m younger than the table in front of me here, and younger than the people at the door wondering if there’s any point in coming in. (There is. Welcome. Glad you’re here.)

Glad you’re here too.
